Google’s Updates it’s Searches, what does this mean for you?

On 2/24/11, Google updated it’s algorithms and will provide better rankings for high-quality sites—sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and more.

Per Google’s Press Release “Our goal is simple: to give people the most relevant answers to their queries as quickly as possible.  This requires constant turning of our algorithms, as new content – both good and bad comes online all the time”.

The recent update will impact 11.8% of queries and is designed to reduce the rankings for low-quality sites, sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites.  At the same time, it will increase the ranking of sites that provide high-quality.

So what does this mean for you?  It might be time to check out the content of your site, make sure it’s relevant to your business and quality content that your users will want to read.  If you noticed a decrease in your rankings then it’s time to review.  If you have noticed an increase than keep up the great work you are doing.

What else does this mean for you?  When you are searching out a site, maybe we will not be clicking on so many sites that are nothing but ads and links to other sites ;) .

If you have a question about SEO, feel free to post a comment and we will do our best to help!

Have a fabulous day!
